Can a brass fitting be used to replace PEEK insulator?

I am just wondering. Can a brass fitting be used in place of the PEEK insulator, I would use a fan to keep the brass cool. I know the PEEK insulator is there to keep that area cool so as not to prematurely melt the plastic filaments. But am wondering if this alternative would work. I would install a fan to keep the brass cool.

Sorry for your loss. I'm going with no, brass won't work. The main purpose of the peek is to limit the length of the melt zone. Brass would conduct the heat far to much and you would be melting up into the nozzle. I do not think a fan would be of much help.

On a more serious note, that sucks dude. I know how you feel though, they are only 9 bucks, but the wait is what sucks. I'd order a few extras to keep in your personal stock. That's what I'm doing.

On a suggested hack it together for now direction.

Have you considered removing it, using a vice to sqeeze it gently together and take a blow torch and carefully remelt the crack back together? You will have to limit your temps to be lower than stock but it might get you by until the new one arrives.

Is the Peek on the Seemecnc Hot Ends replaceable?

Piece left behind in brass nozzle was damn near impossible to remove. I was thinking of doing the same. Thanks for the tip.
