Extruder not responding

After my last issues I was excited to be printing again with the new firmware until part way through printing a single walled calibration cube my extruder stopped moving/feeding. I cant figure out why? connections are all good and before any of my last issues i have printed many a model on this machine..it has to be another firmware glitch i think. any thoughts would help..

The motor stopped? Can you drive in manual control? If not try to swap it with another motor and try it again. You may have blown a drive chip. If that's the case u can just swap ext 0 for ext 1 and swap the pins in the firmware.

If you turnoff power and try and turn the gear by hand, does it turn freely?
If yes, ensure in repetier host you don't have DryRun set, it's a box at the top of the screen on the right.
Can you jog the extruder with the buttons in rpetier host?
With the power on after attempting to jog the extruder, can you easily turn the gear by hand ( don't force it)?

I asked specifically about 2 cases, because they indicate different things, if you can rotate the gears after attempting to jog the extruder motor, the issue is either in the wiring for that stepper, or the driver itself.
Once the enable line is set on the stepper driver a stepper should have holding torque.

I just returned from the university so i am going to check for holding torque now..that does make good sense, otherwise power is not getting to the motor or something has horribly gone wrong.. I will check in just a few moments and report back. Just strange how it just stopped extruding mid print then, I noticed it going through the motions but extruder motor had stopped. I wiil double check all connections and check for holding torque.

I double checked all wiring and all was good! heated extruder up in Repieter and tried to extrude and nothing also no resistance on motor at all. I quit Repieter and LCD read a message about motor I heard a faint click and then there was resistance to the motor. Thinking this was an LCD adapter short or issue I removed LCD adapter and re booted going back through same procedures only to get same results. resistance to the extruder motor happens when software is not turned on ...I'm puzzled.what can this be? firmware? and why would this just happen out of the blue on the second print after I got it up and running with new firmware? any advice?

Bump - did you ever get this resolved? My extruder is not working, i can't jog it from rephost, dry run is disabled, I can spin the extruder gears by hand freely even with machine powered and after I attempt to jog. wiring is fine (if I swap extruder wires from the E0 terminal to a terminal for one of the towers on the board, and jog up or down, the extruder motor spins.

Is there somewhere else that "dry run" gets set that i will need to unset, or is it just in rephost?

I fixed my problem by clearing the EEPROM before uploading .91. Just like the instructions suggest you should do.
