Ratty prints after firmware? RECHECK EXTRUSION STEPS

Post by truenorthtrader »

Hey Folks I spent 2 days trying to figure out why my prints were so ratty after the Firmware update

If you're getting this problem, ADJUST THE EXTRUSION RATE in the Eprom in Repetier!

I checked everything...and the thing that mattered I figured out last. :o
What a genius I am! :P

I adjusted steps in Arduino and assumed that would be enough, it always was before, but for some reason REPETIER overrides the Arduino setting.
It was still at 292! even after I changed it in Arduino a few times and uploaded, Repetier still used 292.

I did Heat changes, Checking Cheapskates, installing new 608 bearing caps on Chepaskates, Arms, PID Tuning, Checking Belts and Motor Cogs, using new and older Nozzle, oiling the joints on the arms and using or not using retraction...plus wasting alot of filament. :C

At least everything has been rechecked and parts replaced but it was pretty frustrating.

So don't assume Arduino will update, check the EPROM settings in Repetier and that all your settings are matching

Here's the difference so far so it worked

Just out of curiousity, did you exit Repetier and come back in after each change? I noticed that my Repetier wasn't refreshing after I made changes unless I exited out and came back in. Drove me nuts for days trying to figure out why the changes I was making didn't seem to make any difference...

I noticed this too. Need to restart each time.

Yes I restarted Repetier every time, reset the Rambo, relaunched and rechecked but I was only updating my XYZ length there.

Sometimes I had to send M500 and restart up to 4 times to see it kept the change.

In this way it's not good having TWO places to make changes as your settings, I assumed Arduino was the Master, whatever it said goes and Repetier was it's bitch.
:P
I assumed wrong.

repetier default is eeprom, not firmware, so you have to make those changes in eeprom unless you disable eeprom mode.

also, not all settings are accessible by eeprom either and any settings that are accessible in eeprom override firmware settings.
