Rostock Hot End build question

I'll start off by saying this is my first time building a 3d printer, so this may well be a dumb question. I'm following the directions for putting together the hot end, but I'm having trouble getting the bowden fitting screwed in. The fitting is threaded, but the hole it's supposed to go into is not. My attempts to get it in anyway have been less than successful. Help?

You can see I've scraped the metal trying to get the Bowden fitting in.

Thanks Cambo, I was feeling really dumb, but I guess it wasn't my mistake.
