Re: Stuff I have been printing...
Funny you should ask me that, I have been using cura and kisslicer but when I tried to go back to slicer, the nozzle comes down and then shoots off toward the z tower, crashing hard it I don't shut it off...
I looked at all my setting and reloaded my firmware after checking it but I don't see why it does this, I used it fine about a week ago...

I thought I was the only one, I am having this strang behavior out of slicer too suddenly. I can't explain it. All my others, kiss and cura are fine, but slic3r is crazy now, odd.

If you recently installed Repetier Firmware, check the EEPROM settings and make sure your XYZ movement is not reversed in the firmware. Just my 2 cents. I just switched to Repetier Firmware and noticed, after done installing, that the extr 0 movement was reversed, so had to go in and change it to false. Could be the case with you accept it's probably your XYZ is reversed, or just the Z.
Re: Stuff I have been printing...
This still would not make any sense because then other slicers would not work, they would all not work.
Repetier here, but Poly's.

Check the slic3r GCode that's causing the issue, the firmware is dumb it will just does what it's told.
Problematic Gcode are things like
G28 X0 Y0 Z0
G92 - anything referencing X, Y , Z
if it does it at the start of a print, just post the first couple of dozen lines of GCode from slic3r (after the comments)

Re: Stuff I have been printing...
Found the problem, Slicer was placing a skirt outside of my build zone. fixed that. now when I go to print, the head comes down and the retracts like it's done. Is slicer even worth the trouble? Cura is nice but it does a huge retraction at the start of the print unless I turn it off completely.

Re: Stuff I have been printing...
I thought cura did a retract and prime at the start of the print, they ought to offset, I don't use it much. It has the best path optimization of any of the slicers, but I usually run KisSlicer.
Slic3r is convenient if you want to do something quick, it should be producing usable gcode unless there is something bad in the configuration.

Re: Stuff I have been printing...
If I look at the cura gcode for retracting the filament back like 50mm as soon as the nozzle comes down, what would that command look like?
I have retraction set to 10 but when I start printing it pulls it out of the head...
I could remove it if I knew...

Re: Stuff I have been printing...
I find they each have their strengths and uses, slic3r, cura and Kiss. I wouldn't go without any one of them.
