Missing parts for Rostock Max

Post by davidsf »

Hi there. We are just starting to put together a Rostock Max. So far, we are finding a number of missing parts....

1) there is no parts inventory list in the box
2) the stepper wires - we have red, blue and green, but no black. instead we have yellow...should we assume that yellow is black?
3) we have no obvious wires for extension wires in the box. there is no set of Red, Black, Green, and White set of wires.
4) step 1.18 - To cut the threads in the bracket, take a #10-32 socket head cap screw; we don't seem to have any #10-32 socket head cap screws..

Is this normal that so many parts are missing at the start of the assembly?

I think if you check the new manual that geneb is putting together that you'll find that your stepper motor wire colors are the "new" colors.
I think you can skip #4 (I did anyway), I believe that was for the wrapper that is no longer a part of the kit.
I used the gray 4-pair wire for extending the wiring on the furthest tower from the Rambo (Z I think), there is plenty of wire for the Onyx, and other extensions, I still have quite a bit left over.

I agree that a parts inventory would have been, and like you, I got confused at a couple of steps in the original manual. Good things these forums exist! :)

Thank you for telling us about the new edition (unfinished) of the manual!!! This is very helpful. It resolves some of our prior questions...

davidsf, the draft manual will take you up to the point of assembling the EZStruder. I hope to have the hot-end write up done soon.

You might want to just ignore the original manual for your build - the 2nd edition, even in draft form is a much better guide. If you get stuck, feel free to email me - my address is on the front page of the guide.
