belt pulley split?

I was putting a flat on my belt steppers when I noticed one of the pulleys had split. I have not had my Rostock running yet. So this pulley has only had normal belt tensioning load put on it. Now I'm concerned that this will happen when I do get it running? Should I order replacement plastic, or are there metal ones available?

I'd reach out to seemecnc and get a replacement on the way, I think you just found a manufacturing defect. That plastic is pretty stout and shouldn't split easily at all. You're far more likely to grind the teeth off of a belt than you are to break the plastic...

There are metal pulleys available, but a printer shouldn't put a high load on them so there's no need.

Thanks, I will reach out to them. I did find aluminum ones on Ultimachines site for $11per. I'll see what Seeme says.

I have well over 100 hours on the exact same pulley, I would wait for the free option. You got a bad one.

SeeMeCNC has already replied to my email. They are sending me a new set. Now that's product support with a big dollop of customer service on the side!

I had the same issue, one was split upon receipt and got a replacement set very quickly. So far I have been giddy with how well their service has been for everything.

I put it all together anyways curious how badly the split would affect it, and it made a significant difference in the action of the cheapskate. Not up and running yet (RAMBO didn't start 100% to guide and I haven't had time to bother with it since) so I can't attest to how it would affect prints, although it would seem to be significant if something as little as slight resistence in an arm can affect prints.

You're not going to want to hear it but I'll warn you that a lot of the JHead copies are basically unusable, because they don't follow the schematic for critical dimensions like nozzle length, Reifsneider did a piece on his blog comparing them to his originals.
