Is this happening to anyone else? Having the back of the belt rubbing against the cheapskate?

At the top of each tower there is a pair of laser cut pieces that sandwich the tower. They have slots cut into them that match the slot cut into the top plate. Those two slots should be fully engaged (there should be no gap at the back of either slot.) Check tower alignment down by the stepper motors as well. I think if you have a tower that's misaligned on the bottom, it could be holding the belt out far enough that it makes significant contact with the acetal.

I have no black marks on two of my acetal bearings, and a slight dark coloration in the middle of one of them that indicates it could have been in contact with the belt in the past. It's nowhere near as much as your photo shows, though. I would take care of that ASAP.
