Not sure where to post this? So went to the lounge.

Article on 3ders.org-What do you guys think of this? I've considered an enclosure for my max, for environment control(temps mostly). Interested in other peoples thoughts or concerns.

So they can say for a fact that there are ultra-fine particles (vapours?) coming from the melting filament? Yeah great find... I can smell that. How, if they could measure that the particles exist, can they not tell us what they are?

well anything that emits a smell, is particle emission but not all are harmful. If you can smell it, your sensing those particles entering your body.
there have been other tests on the safety of 3d printing. Which talk about how safe the fumes are from 3d printing. all came to the conclusion that it was generally safe. These fumes are the same particle emissons these guys are talking about. I see no difference but its good to be cautious for your own well being.

Sorry Man! I didn't see this due this weekend's indexing issues.

No problem, the discussion is more important than where it takes place

I think this probably will give me the push to ventilate my work space. It's in my basement and I should do something to keep it cleaner/healthier

It may be true in this case, but it's not a good rule of thumb. For instance, if you smell bitter almonds in a chemistry lab, you should assume you're being poisoned with hydrogen cyanide until you know otherwise. Or if you smell gas in your home, there may be a gas leak.

never said it was a rule.. just an example, like I said in my post its good to be cautious for your own well being. point i was making is that those fumes are particles.
the way they word it in there research makes it seem like they discovered something new..
