RAMBO 120mm Cooling Fan

So.. I has a large print crash on me and I believe the culprit could be a overheating RAMBO, so I Went all out and slapped on a HUGE 120mm cooling fan.
Designed a couple of cool looking fan Grilles on Rhino and printed them out. - Quality is not fantastic as I am still waiting for the Bearing "tyres" for the outer bearing support that were short in my kit.
So far VERY happy with the machine, and I am truly amazed at how easy it is to use, Now that I have the hang of printing off the SD card.
Next upgrade will be Tricklaser arms and a E3D hot end, maybe a "Gregs" extruder.. ?

I threw a 120mm cooling fan in there for a bit, it ended up cooling my hot bed and limiting it to 70C.... so I took it out.

Not sure if you've done this or not, but I added some small heatsinks to the back of the RAMBo where the stepper motor connections are and then using some of the extra nylon spacers that came with the kit as spacers mounted the board with some clearance on the back. I have a fan mounted to the door that pulls air through the gap where the LCD is mounted and blows on the RAMBo. I haven't had any overheating issues and have printed a couple of prints that took around 8 hours.

If you ever get a chance a picture of that fan and how it is mounted would be appreciated. This sounds like the best solution. I don't like fans just stuck in an open door.

It's in my n00b build thread, but since I can't figure out how to get a permalink to a specific post here's the pic again:
I have it wired so that it runs whenever the printer is on.

So I'm stuck with my RAMBo on the door - my internal segments didn't have any mounting holes for it. I hate it there, did you drill your own holes?

An easy way to solve this would be to print a drill template so you can move the RAMBo inboard. I'd mis-read your original reply.. *coughs*

Hmm, no there were already holes there to mount the board. Actually I believe there were holes that I could have used to mount the RAMBo on each of the interior walls. I almost went with mounting it on the door, but I wasn't sure I'd be able to get the cables for the LCD run easily (and I knew I wanted to put the heatsinks on the stepper drivers). I got my kit in April so I assume all kits since then have the same design for the base?

Yeah, I got mine way back in Feb. Guess they realized it was a good idea and changed their layout slightly.
