I thought they were interesting. No Calibration? Hmmm.

Fishing line - should be interesting to see how that works out. Doesn't it stretch in high humidity?

I believe they use the braided stuff.

"Spiderwire" amazing stuff. You can catch walleye's on it too!
if you can get the son outta bed
Really hard to keep a knot tied in though?

Yes, spiderwire is amazing stuff...at making a mess in a baitcaster, and dammit sometimes when you get hung up you WANT the line at the end to brake. Impressive stuff indeed.. I hope it is spectra fishing line they are intending to use instead of nylon monofilament, although I don't know much about the fluorocarbon monofilaments besides they are better than nylon
.

Yes, most people who use thread for motion control are using Spectra. The Cerberus printer is one example; Polygonhell also did some experiments with it.lordbinky wrote:Yes, spiderwire is amazing stuff...at making a mess in a baitcaster, and dammit sometimes when you get hung up you WANT the line at the end to brake. Theirs is one of the better Rostock printers on Kickstarter. They are selling it REALLY cheap assembled. I don't know if they will be around long, though. I don't think they're building the cost of outsourcing into their retail price, which means that if something crashes on their production line (LOL... "if") they'll wish they had. I want to get one of these printers and I wouldn't mind paying more for it if I thought the company was likely to be around for awhile. (Not that I don't like the MAX, but they take a good minute to turn from a flat pack into a functioning printer.)

They don't mention in the brochure what firmware they are using but they are using Repetier Host. It it auto-calibrates, auto-levels or whatever you want to call it, they are most
likely using Marlin.
