Completed My New Machine

I completed my machine Friday after I bought it at the Maker Faire Detroit. I have it working pretty well so far. I've just run into a couple problems with bad leaking of PLA around where the nozzle goes into the block. I'm running ABS through it now, having seen that suggestion some other places. It's not leaking so far as I watch it print. Are there any suggestions for plugging that up? I've also run into the problem with the power supply cutting out, I've already sent an email on that. I definitely have more tuning to do, but so far I am extremely happy with the results and I'm looking forward to having a much larger print area than my old Thing-O-Matic. As you can see, I still have a lot of cleaning up to do.

Do you have a fan on the hot end? I see three sets of wires but i thought i would ask. Also, you might need a new hot end...it shouldn't leak. Never that problem in this forum RE:Rostock

Can you take the tip off and inspect? I'm wondering what might be going on in there...like no PFTE?

Double check your power connections...shouldn't go off unless it's bad or your power strip is wigging out.

Try glue sticks on the bed!

I do have the 25mm hot end fan installed and set to run all the time while printing. When I took the top of the hot end apart, there was definitely a PTFE tube inside it. Is that supposed to go all the way down to the nozzle? Are there more specific plans/instructions for the hot end available?

I will check the power wiring again. I can get both to run separately, but when both are active the power supply cuts out when they get near full temp or if the stepper motors are run.

It turns out the tubes inside the hot end weren't positioned correctly. I found a good cross section on the RepRap wiki showing the correct positions. It's working fine now. Diving back into running test prints and tuning!

I was also contacted and will be getting a new power supply, so hopefully that should fix that issue.
