SD Card Printing Help

Hello Everyone,

I'd like to thank you for opening my thread. I hope I can later help one of you out! In the mean time, I feel like a dumbass in that I cannot figure out how print from my SD Card.

I have printed muliple parts from my Rostock. It prints items just fine. However, I need separate my computer from the 3D printer.

This is my procedure. Tell me where I am wrong.

1) Load part into Repetier-Host & Slice the part with desired settings.
2) Once G-code is created, save onto SD card.
3) Transport SD card from Laptop to Rostock
4) Navigate thru the screen, select part from SD card, and select Print.

When I command the printer to print, it does nothing. The screen indicates that the printer is still idle, despite promting the Rostock to Print. I know that the SD card slot is not malfunctioning as I can read the various G-code files which are stored onto my SD card.

I am dumbfounded. How do I get the Rostock to print from the SD card?

Doug, are you saying that the printer doesn't start the job after the hot end is brought up to the target temperature? IS the hot end starting to heat when you start the print job?

Thanks for your reply. After selecting my file under the print command, it does not start to heat the bed or hot end. I have looked at the G-code and it says displays the correct bed and hot end heat-up code.

Is my 1 through 4 process correct?

Moreover, the display lights up correct and I have determined my kindergarden-style solder job has 100% continuity.

I know it can be a bit finicky about nameing convention, but they couldn't get the LCD to find the file at all from what I remember about that problem.

The file is recognized. I can pull it up; the file name will show up.

The problem is that it does nothing when I tell it to print when decoupled from the lap top. It sits idle after I command it to print; the LCD will state " PRINTING", but the hot end or bed does not get hot and it doesn't print.

I can print with no issues from my lap top. I can tell the bed and hot end to heat up and even go to home position from the LCD; however, it won't actually print when I command it from the LCD.

I'm just wondering if my procedure is correct. If not, what is the proper procedure?

Seems right, it might be worthwhile to check what it does if you use a different slicer to generate G-Code.

This problem has been discussed before, it appears that their is a bug in some of the older versions of firmware.
I do not know what version of firmware you are using but your problem appears to be exactly the same as discussed here:
