Hotend Turns Off in Repetier

Anyone have a clue why my hotend turns off when I run my Nema 17 geared stepper (5.18:1)? It doesn't turn off when I run the straight Nema 17 (1:1).
Is there a setting I need to mess with in the firmware?

I'm starting to think there's a safety shut off on the RAMBO or somewhere.
This is the Kysan Geared Stepper I'm using:

I had to turn the current from 195 down to 135 to keep the motor from getting too hot. Maybe there is another setting I need to adjust as well? I'm running the geared stepper at 478.13 steps / mm (compared to 92.4 for the Nema 1:1).
Do I need to mess w/ #define MICROSTEP_MODES {16,16,16,16,16} or something else besides just the current and steps / mm?

Do you mean that the heater turns off (hot end)? Or that the motors turn off (cold end)? If it's the heater, I would check your thermistor connection. If it get's disconnected then that turns the heater off.
If it's the motor :/ I'm at a loss. Again, maybe check the connectors.

Both Nema 1:1 and 5.18:1 are mounted on top of the RMAX and I was swapping out their bowden tubes in the effector to test them both out.
Turns out the bowden tube running from the 5.18:1 was leaning on the hotend wires to exploit a bad connection at the crimping ferrules. The 1:1 bowden tube wasn't leaning on the hotend wires the same way so the bad connection didn't show up.
Weird...

The bowden tube knew what it was doing. Time to get a new bowden tube and melt the old one in front of it as a warning to behave.
