how to adjust motor speed to be the same

Post by spart »

hi all got a problem with my z stepper motors one running slower then the other. mendel type printer running on rambo board. I am running repetier host with the max firmware seam to work the best with my printer and less hassle setting up. but i cant figor out how to adjust or were to even look not good at the soft ware part. if any one could direct me in right direction that would be awesome...... thanks guys.

If I understand your question correctly, you have two Z axis step motors on your printer and one is running slower than the other.
The printers I am familiar with that have two Z axis motors have the motors wired in parallel from one driver on the card. The only
way the steppers could run slower than the other in that configuration is if the motors are different from each other. Are your 2 Z axis
motors identical? If these motors are identical and are wired in parallel then I would check for shaft slippage. One motor could also be
missing steps because of friction in the screws. We would need more info on how your motors are wired, are you using screws, etc.

Some kits call to wire the motors in series rather than parallel, and IME that makes skipping of one motor more likely.
Having said that assuming you have enough gain on the Z motor driver, the Z speed is set conservatively (it has to be quite low on mendel designs) and there is no more physical resistance on one side than the other you can make it work either way.
