Belt Routing

Post by Toyguy »

So while I sit and wait somewhat patiently for my just-ordered kit to arrive, I'm still studying the assembly guide and another observation has raised a question.

When you're installing the belts, the routing in the manual has the flat side against the inner, upper idler bearing as I would expect but then on the lower, outside idler it is running teeth against the bearing. This seems like it might cause unnecessary stress and wear on the belt teeth. Was this required due to the narrow spaces involved or does it just not cause the problems I am envisioning?

There are thousands of them configured exactly as the manual shows and they are not experiencing premature belt wearing so the problems you are envisioning
do not exist. Happy Printing!
