This concept looks sort of like it might be a Cartesian machine, but it isn't Cartesian... or Delta for that matter. In addition to XYZ, the effector can be tilted to nearly 60 degrees from vertical in any direction. I have seen a Delta printer that does this, but it requires twice as many motors.
This robot was based on the Tripteron and Quadrupteron platforms.

So much room for flex and slop in the mechanisms, so very many moving complex parts to wear as well.
