Question about accessory wiring

Hello,

I just received my Max kit and am getting the additional doodads together for my build. In the instruction manual it mentions needing 24ga, 4 conductor wire.

My local electronics shop only has 22ga 4 conductor and I was wondering whether that would work properly. Alternatively, could I just get 4 different colors of 24ga wire and braid them together, or is there something special about the wire when it comes already wrapped together?

Thanks in advance for the help, this is my first electronics endeavor in quite some time and I'm not very familiar with a lot of the basic concepts.

That will work fine. In general, you can use any wire gauge larger (or, a smaller number) than the recommended and it will work fine, 24 is just the smallest gauge (largest number) that you are allowed to use before you will probably have problems.

There is no requirement to using a 4-wire, it's just neater and possibly better insulated.
