Hello from SW Ohio

Hi, brand new here, researching 3d printers. Computer science background with some prior CAD exposure. Trying to decide on a kit or a pre-built...

I accidentally came across SeeMeCNC indirectly via a recent article on Goshen High School's STEM program...

Looking to learn more here, looks like a lively forum :) 3D printing appears to be a pretty intimidating set of skills to master from the outside looking in.

Are there any Meetups or other get togethers planned in the Midwest USA (OH/KY/IN) in the coming weeks/months? Or other ORION or Rostack owners in my area?

Would like to see and experience these kits and assembled printers in person.

Take care,
Greg

You mention Indiana... The Rostock is made by SeeMeCNC in Goshen Indiana. It's in the relative vicinity of the South Bend / Notre Dame area. Are you in the Cinci area?

Anyway, there's a local makerspace that tries to meet weekly, and there's also the SeeMeCNC company itself. If you're up for the drive, you're more than welcome in both places.

The delta design of the Rostock and Orion is awesome. It makes a lot of sense, and while it has some of its own quirks, it's devoid of the normal issues that plague other Cartesian designs. If you're a tinkerer and like to build things, get a Rostock kit. If you're more of a mouse and keyboard guys and less of a nut and bolt guy get the preassembled Orion.

Hello from NE Ohio. You are close enough to Indiana to go to the SeeMeCNC location and see Rostock Max and Orion in person.
Just make an appointment with them, they are a great bunch of people. I think the phone number is listed on their website.
Building the kit is fun if you enjoy that type of thing but the calibration can be a very time consuming exercise. The Orion is
much smaller but comes preassembled and calibrated. Happy Printing!
