I have my PEEK fan hooked up as per the manual into "FAN 1" on the RAMBo board. Usually M42 P6 S255 turns it on and M42 P6 S0 would turn it off. For some reason it has started to continually run as soon as I power up my machine. I didn't change the wiring and did not change the firmware at all, I do not understand why it just keeps running. It started soon after I installed a ring of 3 LED's around the nozzle. I just hooked the LED ring straight to a yellow (12 Volt) and black (Ground) wire from the PSU so it is always on when the machine is on but that is in no way connected to the fan. Any ideas would be very appreciated as I am at my whits end with this! Thanks a bunch guys!

Well... as far as your description goes, nothing should be wrong and it should all be working fine. However, since it isn't, all I can say is it must be a wiring issue. Do your LED's work as they should? If I were there, troubleshooting the issue, the first thing I would do is trace all of the wiring and make double sure that I didn't accidentally connect the fan wires directly to the PSU as well. It might be as simple as, you set up the wiring for the LED's but then plugged your fan into that instead.

I may have plugged into the wrong connectors, I'll go check that now.

Well I didn't hook them up wrong and the wiring is fine. When I turn on my Rostock Max the lights for FAN 1 are on. They are just on by default and sending M42 P6 S0 doesn't turn it off. Not sure what happen here but if anyone has seen something like this before please let me know.

Peek fan is still running, does No one have any ideas? I tried uploading the firmware again but that didn't help it any. It just started this all of a sudden, was working fine before and would only run when I started a job since my gcode turns on the peek fan at the beginning and shuts it off at the end. Now it just runs non stop no matter what I do. Maybe I'll try hooking it to fan 0? Ideas of any kind are more than welcome.

Sounds to me like that pin on the Arduino has been somehow locked into an ON state. You may want to contact SeeMeCNC support about it as it might be covered by warranty.

Well apparently John has been setting all the firmware for the past few months to auto run the peek fan, in case anyone wanted to know. I guess maybe mine was always running but I couldn't hear it somehow? I don't know what would happen to all of a sudden make my fan so loud, but it sure is annoying! It would be nice if I could have it so anytime the hot end is on the peek fan is on rather than all the time. Anyone know where in the firmware I could find the fan 1 auto run? Maybe I could put an if statement in there so whenever the hot end does not = 0 then fan 1 = 255 else fan = 0.

I'd think something like that should work, now I just gotta find where to put it. Anyone have any ideas?

It is best to keep the barrel fan on ALL the time anyway. Sounds like your fan is going bad or maybe when changing your wiring the fan got moved out of place or loose. I would replace the fan.

Yeah, probably so, I'll try re adjusting the fan and see if it moved or came lose, otherwise I'll just replace it with one of the ten 25mm fans I salvaged from some old laptops I had in my spare parts bin (old broken electronics pile I can't seem to let go of because then ill "Need" something in there) <---- sure I'm not the only one

Repetier has a function specifically for a peek fan, which I use, the fan runs any time the Hotend is on or over 50C.
But I rarely leave my printer on when it's not printing, so it's not much of a win.

That's exactly what I want to happen, fan turns on when the hot end turn on. Sometimes I leave my printer on with the bed at temperature between prints as it takes so long to get it up there at 80c and I get annoyed listening to the fan the whole time. I think im just going to take the power wires out of fan1 and plug it into Fan0 since I have no plans on running two hot ends any time soon if ever.

FAN 0 is for the layer fan and is required if you're planning on good PLA prints. In FAN1, you can issue M42 P6 S0 to turn off the fan.

Yes I know, that's what I was saying in the first place is that even if I issue M42 P6 S0 the fan connected to Fan1 still continues to run no matter what. I switched to Fan0 and all is well now. I suppose if I switch to PLA in the future I can always put the layer fan on fan1. I dont think it much matters which one you use for which as long as you remember to turn them on

The PEEK fan running all the time isn't an issue at all. I'd move it back to FAN1 and just let it run.
