ABS isn't strong

Post by Orenfor »

why from time to time the ABS isn't strong ? i think it something with the hot end temp but not sure, with brown and yellow ABS it's all good, when i switch to white it's getting worst...
at regular i print with first layer of 245 and other in 237...
Thanks

You don't provide a lot of information to go on like nozzle diameters, layer height and width, which slicer, etc but
in general if you can print a spool of ABS without any problems then your printer must be calibrated fairly closely to
what it should be. If some spools print okay and one spool does not I would say the reason can be related to the
wrong temperature being selected or you have a spool of filament that is basically junk. Spools of filament can
vary from the same manufacturers and if you mix in different manufacturers you can end up with filament
that cannot be printed on any printer because of the fillers, debris or contaminants that could be in the spool.
To simplify, that spool of white filament is probably trash.

The shipping charge is a problem for everyone. I am an Amazon.com prime shipping member so I usually get my filament from Amazon.com, whatever has
the prime shipping and I have had pretty good luck with the filament I buy from them. Each member on the forum have their personal favorites so if you asked
12 different people what is the best filament you would get 12 different answers. Happy Printing!

i know it's everyone problem but when i need shipping to Israel it's even bigger problem , the shipping can get higher than the filament itself , so i buy more than one every time to make the shipping cheaper but when i buy more the Tax in here coast alot about 20% of the total price (shipping + filament) so in any way i pay alot....

You may want to consider buying or building a filament extruder like the one at http://www.filastruder.com/. You would still have to buy the raw ABS so I'm not sure if that would
be good for you or not. The best thing for you would be someone distributing filament directly from Israel, maybe that could happen someday. I cannot imagine paying more in
shipping and taxes then the filament costs and would not want to experience it. Best to you.

Sure I will. I just need to get home for that...
It's 11 cm tall... And the print went well. Just put the fan on( to cool the surface - not the hot end) ...
But that my best print till now...
Looking good?

Did you use Slic3r to slice it and I assume you had support turned on.
Thanks for sharing the file. I think I will do mine in white, red, green, gold, silver and every other color I have, there's something about
that STL that I really like.

This guy does beautiful fantasy work. You can find more here: http://www.makershop.co/shop/fantasygraph
Some of them can only be printed SLS, but never hurts to challenge yourself on our FFF machine ;) They're on my very loooong list of prints to attempt :)
