According to the comments it wasn't FDM printed, I am not sure it can be done with any settings.

I think you could print it upright with a raft.

I change the size and scaled it up 1.5 and in netfabb i chopped the bottom point off to have a little more contact to the bed and printed with ABS here is the pick still on my Orion. no support

layer_height = .2
; perimeters = 1
; top_solid_layers = 5
; bottom_solid_layers = 5
; fill_density = .2
; perimeter_speed = 30
; infill_speed = 30
; travel_speed = 200
; nozzle_diameter = .5
; filament_diameter = 1.75
; extrusion_multiplier = 1.0
; perimeters extrusion width = 0.60mm
; infill extrusion width = 0.60mm
; solid infill extrusion width = 0.60mm
; top infill extrusion width = 0.60mm
; first layer extrusion width = 0.60mm

I use Netfabb basic to scale and to repair .stl files but I am not familiar with how the part can be edited, like chopping the bottom point off. Could you explain how to do that or does that require the pro version of Netfabb?

nope the free version, it really works backwards of what you think it should.

open the file in netfabb, on the right side you will see a X Y Z with sliders with a title of Cuts. with this file i wanted to slice it on the Z so you grab the slider and start to move it and a cutting plane will show up on the part, just move that up and down till you get it where you want. then click on execute cut. and then the menu will change and select "cut" deselect the part and you will see 2 parts now select the bottom and delete it.

hopefully I explained that good enough to give you a idea.

Thank you, I have seen the arrows but never used them. Now with your fine explanation, I will give them a try. Thanks!

here is the stl file that I used.

and yes it still turns on the inside not smooth enough yet to blow on it to get it to spin but by hand the spiral will turn.

Thanks for that link. You are awesome, I never thought there would be a tutorial for that.
