Buying Rostock Max

Post by zshortyz3 »

Hello all. I am getting ready to purchase a Rostock Max, and was wondering if there is anything that I should purchase along with it before it comes in? When you guys purchased your Rostock Max was there anything you wished you purchased at the time of building it, like upgrades during install? I was seeing a lot of people saying they wished they installed carbon fiber arms when they first got the printer is that something I should buy prior to purchase and install them with the initial build?

Yes, the carbon fiber arms can and do make a large difference and are available at Trick Laser. The other upgrade that a lot of people are moving to is the E3D hotend but I do not
feel that it is necessary at first. The hotend supplied should be fine unless you are planning on using some of the exotic filaments that require more than 240C to print. The stock
hotend has an upper temperature limit of 240C. The E3D can go over 300C. I do recommend purchasing a thermocouple meter so that you can insert a thermocouple into the hotend
and verify the temperatures are actually what the firmware is reporting. It doesn't have to be expensive, I will provide a link to an inexpensive meter: http://www.amazon.com/BestDealUSA-Chann ... uple+meter
Also download the lastest assembly manual here: http://www.geneb.org/rostock-max/Rostoc ... -Guide.pdf
Enjoy your build!

Thank you so much, I was trying to fine the right website for the carbon arms, and ill probably play with the rostock for awhile and once I want to change up the materials, get a new hot end.
