Howdy my name is Shane im from Australia and iv decided i want to order the Rostock MAX v2 3D Printer Kit as my first 3D printer, but im a little worried about shipping it here will it survive the freight here? Im super keen to learn more about 3D printing. I mainly want it to remake parts for my RC hobby, eg: make light buckets for my rock crawler. Anyways not sure what else to write here....

The Rostock Max V2 will make a fine printer for you, a very good choice.
We are available to answer any questions you may have during your build process.
Its great that a fellow Aussie tried to ease your fears about the kit arriving in good shape
and you will have many hours of enjoyment building your printer.

Thanks for the replies McSlappy and Eaglezsoar Im not to far off having enough money to buy it. It was such a tough choice having not allot of knowledge about 3D printers but after reading heaps of threads on here about the Orion and the Rostock Max. I decided on the Rostock Max, mainly for the larger build area an i like building kits so its a perfect match for me.

G'day Shane, Perth boy here, welcome aboard. This is a pretty good little forum and support is excellent.

My Max survived the voyage just fine - although my advice would be to get yourself a few spares when you buy it because waiting for them to arrive is a PITA. I bought a second extruder and a tonne of filament to play with, but you could ask SeeMeCNC to price up a rescue kit with:
- 5 spare bowden tube push-fit connectors
- 1 spare bowden tube
- 2 spare PTFE extruder tube pairs
- 1 spare thermistor
- 1 spare 0.7mm nozzle
- 2 0.35mm nozzles
- 4 spare fuses for the Rambo (if they have them)

to include in your purchase, it will keep you going for a while!

Captain, your list looks good but I would increase the number of spare thermistors to 2 or three.
They can be a troublesome part and I don't feel that one in spares would be enough.

Fair enough - I haven't cracked one (yet) and only threw it in there after reading of so many others' issues with them.

Also, Shane, tip for new players: any thermistor based print head is going to need calibration against that thermistor and to do that you'll need a $30 from eBay multimeter with a thermocouple.

Captain, if Seemecnc doesn't have the fuses they are important enough to get from another source such as Mouser

This is one of the things I was afraid of but is unavoidable when dealing with overseas companies an that's lengthy freight times. I think I need to make a list of everything I need an prices to see how much I need exactly before I place an order.

Agree with that list. I blew a fuse when installed the hot-end and had to ghetto-up a temporary fuse (from an automobile fuse) in the meantime. I bought a few of them just in case. I also bought a few of the M3 threaded thermistors because I really like them - I'm not sure how they attach to the stock hot-end (anyone done that?).

Does the Max v2 use the same heat resistors as the V1? Anyone?

Hi Guys.

Im in Sydney Australia and am just confirming how much shipping cost you. When i go to checkout the estimated amount 350USD. Ive sent a couple of messages so far but have not received a reply.

Reason im asking is when i went to the tricklaser site and checked out, it came to 190USD when in fact it only ended up being 40usd when i messaged them and inquired directly.

Yep, sounds about right. And don't forget the 10% on top of purchase AND shipping for GST if it gets pinged on the way through.

Buy her a roll of filament now. When she responds with the inevitable "And exactly what the F*** am I supposed to do with this?" you can solve her problem easily by purchasing a printer to use it on. It will be awesome, trust me.

And post photos of the rageface when you hand over the filament (gift wrapped, of course).
