Mine are a lot less noisy then that, it sounds like you'll be replacing your fan very soon.

Re: Fan on E3D is Crazy Loud
Since printing the shroud with a clip, my fan rattles no more and is very quiet. But I assume you're talking about the actual fan noise, so this probably doesn't help.
I loved my Rostock so much I now sell them in Oz

My PEEK fan didn't quite like the fit into the gap on the effector platform and has been ticky since day one. It's now in a shroud but that tick I suspect is there forever now. Lets me know it's running and, let's face it, these things are never going to be silent anyway.

They will never be quiet but they should not be making ticking noises. That type of noise is either the blades hitting the case or less likely a bad bearing.Captain Starfish wrote:My PEEK fan didn't quite like the fit into the gap on the effector platform and has been ticky since day one. I know - in this case it's the case distorted from being jammed into the gap between the platform and hot-end mount and not quite fitting, but the fan case has adopted the new shape and the blades are flicking it at the narrowest point.
Meh. Worst case I'll get another fan but it's not getting on my tits enough to demand effort to repair yet.

I just purchased a E3d hotend and decided to replace fan because of noise and vibration with another I found at http://www.newark.com/nmb-technologies/ ... dp/58K7753

That one should last awhile, at least it has ball bearings instead of a sleeve bearing.Tinker12 wrote:I just purchased a E3d hotend and decided to replace fan because of noise and vibration with another I found at http://www.newark.com/nmb-technologies/ ... dp/58K7753

I was lucky and found a laptop metal fan that is so quiet it can't be heard. steel frame and fins exactly the same size.
