Does anybody got the static jumper mod?

Hello,
I looks that I got one of last ORION printers without the static jumper mod. I've send since 17. February 3 emails to their support, but so far I got no reaction from them nor the static jumper. Does anybody got the static jumper since they announced it on the homepage?

Is your Rambo board a 1.2 version? The news blog tells you exactly what to put in the email to get the jumper or how to send in your card. If your email gets no reaction is it
worded the way the blog indicates it should be? The blog is here:
http://seemecnc.com/blogs/news
If your email is not worded the way they instruct they could possibly consider it as spam.

Did you mean "Does everyone get the static jumper mod since they announced it on the homepage?". My MAX v2 shipped March 5, and it does not (appear to) include the mod. And, the RAMBo doesn't appear to have itself been modified. So, looks like the mod is only shipped to those who ask for it.
Strange: I assume it would be far cheaper to include it with all new kits rather than to replace any RAMBos whose USB fails. And, it looks like the connectors used are undocumented/unused (one is marked ICSP1 on the silkscreen; the other SERIAL), so few users should object to having it.
I'll wait to see if there are any other responses to this thread, and then probably ask SMC for a mod.

If your kit is that new then your Rambo card is probably not V1.2 which are the only cards effected. I am reasonably certain that cards manufactured now do not need a jumper,
the problem has been remedied and the card design being produced now do not have the problem. The version of your card is silk screened on the front and it is probably 1.2d
or higher.

Ah! That makes sense. My RAMBo is version 1.2g. I went looking for a version history for the board, and found
http://reprap.org/wiki/Rambo_development (note the latest version, 1.2fp, is for the fix). Looks like 1.2d does NOT include the fix, but we can guess that 1.2g DOES include the fix.
I've posted a query to SMC's blog post about the static jumper mod, asking about version numbers. I'll post here when they respond.
Dan
P.S. Other relevant pages I found:
https://github.com/ultimachine/RAMBo/tr ... -ESD-patch (this is the external mod, dated a month ago)
http://www.makergear.com/pages/m2-sb1 (another manufacturer using RAMBo)
https://github.com/ultimachine/RAMBo/co ... ster/board (shows the board modifications; commit on 2/16 was "Add Bi direction ESD Protection Diode")
http://seemecnc.com/blogs/news/12116989 ... -patch-fix the SMC blog post about the mod

I received a very big box, with the little wire taped on the inside. And this big empty box went from US to Europe... made me smile.

Thank you for offering to post the version numbers effected. Information is hard to come by on these cards and your help is appreciated.

I've send all three emails with the following header: Static Jumper Mod for RAMBO and included the order number and address. My board is 1.2 version -- This is what is printed on the board. Ok - I was not aware of all the additional revisions. I'll try to take a picture of the part with the version number and post it here....

For those of you who are wondering if your board is patched and you do not see the jumper on the top of your board, there is also an SMT patch that can be done. If your board is
patched it will look like the following image. The component they used to patch your board is within the black circle.

Hello,
The board inside my Orion is a version 1.2e -- Does it require the jumper mod or not?

dtgriscom is trying to get the revision information that need the patch. I posted the image where it shows where the board would be patched but if you can't get to the back of your board it would be difficult to see if it is patched. If you can get to the back of your board look to see if you have that small part soldered in by the USB connector as shown in the
image I posted. If your board does not have the jumper or the SMD component on the back, then it probably needs patched.

Just to be clear, this is a board which, when first manufactured, did NOT have the static fix. But, as a last step, a component was hand-added to the board to implement this fix. (Right?)
I'm guessing the board you show is earlier than version 1.2fp; what version is it?

I received the image of the board and the patch from Ultimachine but they did not identify the version number.
I am going to contact support at SeeMeCNC to get further information on version numbers effected and if the perform the SMD patch in house.
We will eventually get this figured out. Can you get to the back of your board to see if it has the SMD component installed?

Will check tonight.
I have queries in to SeeMeCNC (email and comment to their blog post) and Ultimate. I'll post here when (if?) I hear something.

I have asked John Oly to look at this topic and perhaps clear up some of these questions.

Nope: my v1.2g board does NOT have a surface mount component at that location.
Haven't heard back from SeeMeCMC (either by approving my blog comment or by email), or from Ultimachine (contact form post)
My guess is that 1.2fp or 1.2g (or later) boards are OK; 1.2f (or earlier) that have the SMC mod installed on the bottom of the board are OK, and other boards (guess: those shipped before early last month) will need the external static jumper mod. But boy! would it nice to have confirmation.

I agree that confirmation would be nice, but I am also having a difficult time getting confirmation.
It's a shame that Ultimachine won't answer your emails, they made the cards but totally ignore users support emails. Mine were also ignored by them.

Got a response from my Ultimachine web response form query:
Hello Daniel,
Thank you for your inquiry. Please refer to your RAMBo serial number sticker, located on the edge of the board between your endstops and motor connectors. There will be an eight digit number, followed by the letter "P" if the board has been patched for the ESD issue. Please feel free to contact us again with any further questions you may have.
Best,
Britt
UltiMachine
I haven't been able to look at my serial number yet; will do tonight.

Great, finally got an answer from them, good job in getting them to answer!

BTW, my RAMBo, received as part of a MAX v2 kit shipped 3/5, does have a (handwritten) "P" suffix on its serial number. So, it does have the ESD patch.
Good stuff,
Dan

That's a good thing to know, it eases the mind and keeps you from wondering.
