Essential Accessories

• fire extinguisher! Be safe, it only takes a second to start a fire
• a pair of long (4" or greater) tweezers for grabbing oozing filament, etc.
• an X-acto knife or single edge razor blades for prying off parts and cleaning them up
• oil or grease to keep the Z axis screws and other bearings lubed
• thin paper like telephone book pages or, my favorite, cigarette rolling papers to set the Z height
• scrap paper to catch extruded filament - old glossy magazine pages work great

Nice to Have Accessories

• a small pair of sharp nippers or wire cutters to cut filament neatly
• thermocouple or voltmeter with thermocouple for measuring hot end and hot bed temps
• Shuttle Pro 2 for jogging - a great time saver, I use one on my H-1 controller
• Kapton tape - some folks prefer to print on Kapton
• 3M Blue painters tape - others prefer 3M blue

Volt meter for setting hot end temp
Thermocouple for above volt meter to verify hot end temp
Shuttle Pro 2 for jogging all 4 axis a wee bit easier than just the keyboard.

Digital calipers for checking your calibration prints

A DTI is nice to have when you're leveling the bed, but certainly not essential.

How about the following for essential H-1 accessories:
* soldering iron and solder
* electrical tape
* Drill and drill bits

Optional:
* Teflon impregnated grease for bearings/rods (bicycle chain grease works great)
* Loctite removable - to help hold threaded parts in place
* Hack saw - if you wish to modify or extend parts of the H-1

Why do you need paper to set the z axis height? What do you do with it.

The paper is meant to help set the appropriate first layer print height. Run the Z axis down to the paper placed on the bed, then move up until the paper is removable but with some friction still. I tend to use a business card or eye-ball it to set my Z axis initially, then I set the set screw for the endstop and use 'home' to set Z height.

If you have an old Xbox or some other usb controller you can use that and a program called joy2key (http://www-en.jtksoft.net/) to control the machine. I use it for my CNC, H-1 and my laser. Pretty handy to have available.

ps3 works if you have bluetooth
