Thingiverse item 1481 - A-Mazing box - lookin' good!

Post by michaellatif »

Just finished up a print of the following item from thingiverse, the print quality is near perfect, .2mm layers.

A little bit of cleanup after completed print, but otherwise, it was print and use.

One thing that I can't seem to get rid of is occasionally there will be a 'missing' line in one layer. It does not affect quality of item, but bugs me...

That's pretty cool. I'll have to do one of those in green. In addition to .2mm layers, what other Slic3r params did you use. Maybe we should post the ini file (or copy and paste the text from it) when we post a thing we print. It would be a great learning aid for others and maybe someone else will see something in our config that might help too.

I've noticed the missing line. I've seen that in prints from other machines too. It might just be the nature of the technology.

cheers,
Michael

That's a good idea Michael. I will post my config later tonight.

It looks like that cover would be a bear to print. Print too fast and the layers won't have time to cool down and they'll start sagging.

Nice job.

Yeah, the walls are thin, two layers wide, but once you get it printing the layers really stick together. This was my first attempt at this item, in general I use the same config for everything, I don't change slic3r settings unless I want to adjust/tinker with something. This tends to make for a slower print, but improves quality and reduces chances of failures.

I was thinking I had a config uploaded already. In the thread below see the first two pictures showing my settings for slic3r. The only difference is layer height .2mm instead of .25mm.

One thing not evident from the pictures, these items are SOLID! They hold water AND they are strong, I was playing with them early this morning thinking I would break it, but even me being rough, they held up and continue to do so!
