Hi everyone,
I've been reading over the forum for the last couple of weeks and it seems like a great community, hopefully I can eventually help members out as well as I get more experienced.

I'm a leather worker and I'm looking at using the printer for making molding forms and custom imprinting stamps, I've been using Shapeways for the last few years but when I need to tweak stuff it's a 3 week turnaround which puts me behind schedule so having my own printer will hopefully speed things up.

Anyhow after looking at various printers for the last year I've finally decided on the the Max v2 kit, I was going to go for the Orion but the bigger size of the Max would definitely come in handy but as it will be my first 3D printer kit I have some questions.

I read through one of the other Australian member threads and it was recommended to get some spare parts I was just wondering are these only available from See Me CNC are any available in Australia, are they absolutely necessary ie likely hood of something going wrong with a newbie building the kit. It's just I have the cash now to buy the kit and for postage but if I need a lot of extra parts it's going to be another couple of weeks before I can spring for it and I would like to get it sooner rather than later as I have some stuff that I would like to get printed by the beginning of May (allowing for lead time postage, building, printing problems etc).

Which brings me to someone else mentioned buying from 3D Supply World, as the $75 USD ship fee is definitely appealling compared to $350 USD it just seems kind of cheap though and I'm wondering what postal service they actually use as being a leatherworker I have brought machinery from the US before that is roughly this size and weight and the cheapest I've ever been charged is $200 USD. So I was just wondering has anyone actually bought from them in Australia and could tell me how long it took. Using them would be helpful as I would still have the cash to get the spare parts from See Me CNC now.

One last thing to get going printing should I use See Me CNC's abs filament or would the stuff sold in Australia be ok ( Bilby CNC or 3D Printing Sytems)

I just ordered the printer from 3d supply world..Ill let you know how it goes and what type of delivery is used once i'm updated.

Im still trying to figure out where to buy filament from also.

Thanks Paul, yeah I tried a few estimate shipping costs on a few different things and it is all over the place one gave a fixed price another gave a USPS priority international option then the fixed price again.

I think I'll stick with See Me CNC, are you going to order any extra parts been researching a bit more and I'm still not 100% sure about it.

Hey Clair,

I asked for a refund and then went ahead and ordered through SeemeCNC... So much money flying around haha

I just ordered a couple of extra heating resistors and thermistors in case i stuff anything up or thy fail on me.

Ordered a few extra things to help with the installation through ebay.

Haven't bought any extra filament yet, going to try and source a good place in australia thats as cheap as the US first.

I am also a newbie from Perth .
I just received my Orion delta from SEEMECNC and it appears to be fine.
My other CNC machines are routers which I use for timber products .
The 3d printer I am hoping will add another string to the bow the mind boggles.
Once I get into it the problem of where to buy the filament will I expect be raised.

That's good to know, I would love to see some of your prints once you get going. Most Aussies I've come across using different 3D printers such as the Up seem to be buying their filament from Bilby or 3D Printer Gear. Though it seems to be double the price of what those overseas pay but with postage costs going up all the time I'm not sure if it would actually work out to be any cheaper than buying from here.

There was a place called C-it that was selling the Up printer in Perth but I'm not sure about the filament as they don't mention it on their website and haven't updated it for awhile would be handy if they do though as I wouldn't mind having someone local for filament.

Don't get used to seeing US prices on filament here - it just wont happen Also having gone through a fair bit of filament, I'd also suggest NOT going for whatever is cheapest. There's quite a few things that can go wrong with filament and you don't want to spend a whole roll troubleshooting an issue only to find out you had bad filament (I've done it, it's not fun).

Filament is so overlooked when it comes to using printers, but there's a reason that some of the bigger companies supply their own brand - they need to be able to control the quality that their customers use. Sure they make money from selling their own - but imagine the extra savings to them from not having to troubleshoot bad filament problems.

Anyway, welcome fellow Aussie!
