BBB with BeBoPr

Post by bubbasnow »

so ive been looking at some other control boards

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdMcdjUPyes

i got this email from the creator
Hi Tylor,

There is no US stock yet, so the boards will ship from Europe. Since shipping single boards is relatively expensive, I recommend combining orders whenever possible. Up to 6 boards can ship in one box.

Total price for 1 board is EUR 114.41 = EUR 84.00 (1 board) + EUR 25.60 (shipment) + EUR 4.81 (PayPal).
Total price for 2 boards is EUR 186.21 = EUR 153.00 (2 boards) + EUR 25.60 (shipment) + EUR 7.61 (PayPal).
Total price for 3 boards is EUR 258.01 = EUR 222.00 (3 boards) + EUR 25.60 (shipment) + EUR 10.41 (PayPal).
Total price for 4 boards is EUR 329.81 = EUR 291.00 (4 boards) + EUR 25.60 (shipment) + EUR 13.21 (PayPal).
Total price for 5 boards is EUR 401.61 = EUR 360.00 (5 boards) + EUR 25.60 (shipment) + EUR 16.01 (PayPal).

Optionally I can include the power connectors, a set with all the Molex I/O connectors, or both (see the manual for details):

Additional price for 1 set of power connectors is EUR 3.12 = EUR 3.00 (connectors) + EUR 0.12 (PayPal).
Additional price for 1 set Molex connectors is EUR 5.20 = EUR 5.00 (connectors) + EUR 0.40 (PayPal).

Note: You might get a better price on the power connectors when buying locally and in quantity. But make sure to buy the heavy-duty part specified in the manual so it can handle the high currents that may be used.

The BeBoPr++s are in stock and ship within 1-2 days. Transit times to the US currently varies from 4 and 8 working days, mostly due to customs processing.

If you send me a mail with your PayPal email address and the configuration you want, I'll send you a PayPal money request for the total amount. Please note that I only ship to registered users with a verified address.

New: You can also pay with Bitcoin via bitpay.com, the payment charge is only 1% instead of the 4% for PayPal (so total prices will be lower).
If you're interested let me know and I'll show you how it works.

Thanks,
-- Bas

I have seen this video a few weeks ago and think LinuxCNC is the way to go. It's sure going into my next Rostock.
That's a nice cape for the BBB here is another great board http://www.thing-printer.com/product/replicape/.
I would have played around with LinuxCNC but for a long time you couldn't get a BBB. It was sold out everywhere.
Just since a week or two they are available again in limited quantities.

You might want to remind him that increasing the price to cover the PayPal fee like that is expressly forbidden by the PayPal TOS...

Which is really a question of semantics. It's the same deal with credit cards. You can't have a credit card surcharge, but you can offer a discount for other payment methods (cash typically). So, if you bring that up, you'll find the base price magically go up, with a 3% discount for paying via Bitcoin.

I have a small amount of Linux CNC (EMC2) experience. A few years ago I converted a old CNC engraving machine to run with EMC2. Very powerful, but a bear to configure. I have not used it for 3D printing, but am very interested in trying it or a smoothie board on one of my machines.
Oh, I did run my first H-1 Printer from SeeMe with the Mach3 CNC control program. But that was with Olys generous help.

Hmmm, I can not decide if I want to try the Smoothie or BBB+Cape
I almost pulled the trigger on a smoothie this weekend, but for some reason the web site was not functioning correctly.

maybe we should take a poll on this forum to see where the most interest/experience is for a more powerful board?
It would be nice to have more of us working on the same thing.
I firmly believe our delta printers potential is being limited by the Ardunio based boards.
Pretty amazing what they can do already.

Brian, I agree that we need a poll to see where the user interest is, the Smoothie or the Beaglebone Black. Do you want to do the Poll, or do you
want me to do it?
