My kit is missing the red LED form the Onyx packet. Can anyone give me the value of the LED?
I picked up a 12v 1.5mA w/integrated resistor from Rat Shack - but I am not sure if an integrated resistor will play havoc with the Onyx mounted resistor.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Re: Missing LED
if you look at the value of the resistor it will tell you what current the led should be rated for.
or use that led with a 8000 ish ohm resistor
or use that led with a 8000 ish ohm resistor

Re: Missing LED
It was shipped to you without the LED? I'd contact SeeMeCNC; they'll ship a replacement quickly.gibeaug wrote:My kit is missing the red LED form the Onyx packet. Can anyone give me the value of the LED?

Re: Missing LED
I did report it to their tech support email - but never heard back. So, like a kid with a new toy on Christmas but no batteries, I thought I would source one locally so as not to delay my build

Re: Missing LED
I think the resistor included in the Onyx hot plate kit is a 4.7k Ohm 1%.
It appears to be a 5 band resistor (these things get harder and harder to see

Re: Missing LED
so with that resistor the current running through the led will be 2.5mAgibeaug wrote:I think the resistor included in the Onyx hot plate kit is a 4.7k Ohm 1%.

Re: Missing LED
The Onyx would still work without the Led exactly the same way.
When I received mine, I received it with an over-rated resistor (few mega ohms...). Before understanding what was going on, I tried few things to get the Led working, including reversing it's polarity. The onyx always worked, when the LED did not.
It's just an indication, that is not mandatory.
So, don't fill like a kid with a new toy but no batteries, finish your build, or put any standard LED.

Re: Missing LED
Final follow-up.
I did send them an email and yesterday a box arrived with the missing part (in addition to some not missing parts
) - 2nd day UPS - above and beyond in the customer service arena in my opinion. I wish all companies stood behind their products this well.
Awesome service - thanks guys - so back to the screw turning....

Re: Missing LED
The SeeMe guys are pretty great when they mess up orders. I remember the time they sent me the wrong bowden fittings... There is a reason I want their printers, and its not just because they are awesome printers
