My V2 Build

Making progress with my printer build, I've come up against a minor issue. The manual says:-

"Cut 21” off the 18ga, four conductor cable included with your kit and remove the black & red wires from it. These are the power wires that need to be soldered to the power pads on the bottom of the Onyx."

then on page 99 its says:-

"Next, you want to pull the four 18ga wires from the Z tower and the four 26ga wires from the Y tower through the center hole in the top plate. Carefully feed 30” of wire as measured from the top plate. This will give you plenty of length to work with when it comes time to wire up the hot end."

then it tells you to cable tie the wires to avoid contacting with the top belt bearings, but what your left with is about 6" of wire at the base! Either the 18gauge wire SeeMeCNC delivered to me is too short or pulling 30" through the top hole is a bit excessive :) but you've already cable tied it in position by that stage so your going to have to go backwards to pull any back through.

I'm fitting my hotend with a cartridge heater/connector and screw in thermistor so does that mean I can afford to pull some of the 18 gauge back?

You might have gotten shorted a bit on your wire. My advice would be to hit Radio Shack (or Lowes) and get some 18ga wire you can use to splice into the bottom of the wires.

Thanks Gene I think that is whats happened. Its no great drama though I'll come up with a solution. Just thinking how to improve the top bearing mounts as I can foresee issues with the nylock nuts slipping down over time, they seem a little under engineered.
