My first print

I've received my Orion today and I had a part to print.

I broke the shaft coming out of a plastic gear. With my trusty caliper and freecad I created what I hope is a stronger replacement and printed it.

I'm quite happy with the result!

That's really awesome looking! Will the shaft hold up under stress?

Did you print it all in one go? How did you handle the huge overhangs?

Impressive, good job!

I don't know if it will hold up but i'm sure it can't be as weak as the original one!

Yes I've printed it in one go. I've used slic3r and had it generate the support. It's not perfectly flat but it's good enough for my needs.

I'll have to do some RTFM for slic3r... so many options :o

PopolZ,

Pretty epic first print man! Nice job, and maybe you need to WTFM! Looks like we could learn from you a bit too :)

Thanks John!

I guess I've had a bit on luck on my side!

I only one bad print so far and it was glue related.
