Bird feeder

Post by Max »

Noobie warning.

I'm learning when to use support material and when not to. This part would trigger supports because of the angle of the threads at the top. But because there ended up being so much surface area touching the supports it wouldn't break off.

I used PLA with 200C hotend, and 60C on the bed with the elmers glues stick. There were just a few places I had to clean up, 80% of them just came off with my finger.

The threads look really nice. Since I wasn't 100% sure what a 3D printer could I was surprised how well it did.

Good job printing that, it came out nice. I assume it is part of a hummingbird feeder?

It's a small seed feeder. There are holes in the bottom for water to drain. It will take a 2 liter bottle, but I'm probably going to use a 1 liter, or something like that.

I didn't design it. I just needed a small feeder to replace one I had that gathers water when it rains.

I also wanted to see how well threads came out, and they are really smooth and nice.
