Looks like development is moving along. I purchased the image converter. It seems to work as promised :) (early adopters get it for $15, it will be $25)
Haven't tried "Matterslice" yet, that's on the to do list. 8-)

Matterslice seems pretty good so far.

Quick, nice path choices.

Doing a test print right now.

How did your print come out?

Can someone please "wring-out" Matterslice for me? I'd like to know if it's good enough to replace Slic3r as the "default" tool for new builders to the Rostock MAX.

tnx.

I've only just begun to play with the new MatterControl using the MatterSlice engine. So far I was able to run a single wall calibration box. I got the wall thickness spot on to .35mm which is the size of my nozzle. Next up was a 20mm solid calibration cube. WOW! Side walls and and top surface look great. However, the cube is a bit undersized so I have to play with that but so far so good. I really like this version.

I like the new interface too. These guys make some lovely improvements. I have a 4 hour print job (using KISSlicer) cooking at the moment but once it finishes I'll play with MatterControl some more.

...well, scratch that! I had a hiccup with KISSlicer leaving strings all over my part. I used MatterControl instead. I don't have MatterControl fully configured yet but what the hell. I went for it. I'll have the result in about 3 hours.

What size did the cube come out at?

Were all three sizes under, or just the width and length?

I think it measured 19.78mm square and 9.89mm high on a 20mm x 20mm x 10mm cube.

That might be just a matter of tweaking the filament diameter....

Ran a couple of parts through it yesterday.

So far, impressed. The changes they've made have been positive and removed a few annoyances from before. The MatterSlicer seems to hit a fair balance between few enough settings to keep it sane vs enough tweak to get basic stuff out. And they now allow a choice of Cura, Slic3r and MatterSlicer from within the program. There's also a neato spot for custom G-code at pause, cancel and restart as well as start/end job which is great for dealing with retraction and prime/wipe stuff.

I'd like to see the pan/orbit of the 3d view available in the layer/gcode viewer, and my jury is out as to whether their mechanism for preset management by exception is a boon or a curse. Having to navigate menus for individual settings is a royal pain compared to being able to see where things are in the normal layout. But being able to see what's different in a single list is awesome. Perhaps they could come up with a view for editing which showed "default" settings one way and modified another.

Other things that'd be nice:
- Ability to drag drop parts from the queue into the library
- when hitting the Add button within an item's view (to add more bits to the print) it'd be swell if the Mac version remembered and returned to the location I was last adding from.

Added to the 'to do' list. Thanks for the feedback!

Awesome, Kevin, thank you.

I realised yesterday after adding a couple of non-default configs that the highlighted changes is something you already do, I'd just approached it arse about face.

Kudos, folks. It gets better the more I use it.

Repetier only gets a look in now when I want to see the G-code visualisation from a different angle.
