New build ATX power supply question

Post by Boundless »

Guys, just starting my build tonight and I hate to admit I already have a couple questions.

On the power supply, I separated the short and long wires and cut off these connectors on the long black and yellow wires, but i was short one yellow wire and had 1 extra black one.

Do I just fold away the extra black wire and bundle it away with the others not being used?
Also, since I need one more yellow, I cut one from another connection (molex), but it is 4" shorter than the other group. Is this ok? Am I missing something?

Last question...the small 2 wire connector that I cut off had 2 black instead of a yellow and black. That's where the extra black wire came from.

Everything look correct?

All Blacks are 0vdc reference (the same)
All yellow are 12vdc.

I think it's safe to say that you can cut all of those long yellows to the length of the shortest one. They all come to the same connector anyway.

So rassle up one more yeller and make sure they are equal numbers and lengths.. It will be fine.
