Max V2 dxf cad files.

Post by Flateric »

Could someone please verify that the cad files on github for the max2 are corrupt. I cannot for the life of me get ANY program to load them.

Also I am unable to load the sldprt files at all nevermind export them in something useful to me.

My target app here is Artcam. I have some extra material around and thought I would cut my own V2 upgrade parts.

Thanks.
(been a frustrating night trying to get them even loaded)

I didn't have any problem with them. I'm actually in the middle of converting them over to 3D. Why don't you try downloading the free DraftSight program for the 2d stuff. As for the SolidWorks files, they really should be posting step files instead (with maybe an iges fallback). I have those converted so I can send you step files when I get back into work (Tuesday). I haven't checked but the free 3d modeler, Fusion 360, might be able to load and convert SolidWorks files too. Don't count on it though.

Make sure you're downloading the RAW files, otherwise they're going to be corrupt. So on Github you'd right click "view RAW," then "download as."

The "Raw" then "save as" proceedure seems to have done the trick for me for the 2d files.

I agree with you on the iges alternative versions for the 3d solid files.

Thanks guys.

Would you recommend Cubify invent over Cubify design?

Cubify design allows you to assemble different parts on screen and allows the use of constraints. So you can watch a hinge move or how two parts interact. There is no limit to how many parts you use on screen. Then you can explode the various parts And export to stl and print. Invent is a watered down version allowing only one part at a time.

Sure sounds like I would want design over invent. I am going to download the trial versions.
