Secondary layers becoming stringy problem

Hello, I have a Max V2 w/ .35mm nozzle and am trying to print out this iPhone case I designed.

The finished product shows that each extruded string does not touch the one next to it. This takes place with the 2nd or 3rd layer. I'd imagine that the problem is due to the fact that those layers are sped up. Is the problem with the extruder acceleration or linearity :?: Can I tweak that to see if it helps? Any suggestions?

I've turned up the extruder to about 240C and still no dice. That's another issue I've been having and I guess I need to reset my PID for the extruder heater for this but the temps aren't maintained when printing. They stay 5C below target. I guess I need to increase the P and decrease the I and increase the D. If anyone has a good setup values for the heater, then I would greatly appreciate it because the autotune function only figures out the 3 values based on the initial values and if the initial values are too low, then the new values wont improve much.

Am using Repetier with Slic3r btw...

Figured it out. Since I have switched to the .35 nozzle, you need to go to the Slic3r settings and adjust the extrusion width in the advanced tab. Hopefully this will allow me to print even faster.

In addition to that, what sort of retraction settings are you using? I find that slic3r strings a hell of a lot more than Kiss for some reason...

To update, even with setting up the advanced settings, I have not had success in making the strings attach to each other. Tried to widen the infill and solid infill and it helped a bit but definitely looks like crap compared to the mBot Cube print at similar speeds. I'm nowhere near printing at advertised speeds right now.

My retraction settings are stock, have not messed with them. Do you recommend I lessen the retraction?

I am also getting oozing between where the nozzle finishes a move and the next island it moves to. Nothing major, but I never had this problem with mBot Cube. It just creates these tiny annoying strings. Honestly this makes me appreciate the mBot CUBE that I sold to get this a whole lot more.

I understand the problem, and that is that the retraction motor is so far away from the head that it causes a reaction delay due to having to tension a longer length of plastic spool. It is what it is.

Is there any other slicer that I can use with Repetier other than Slic3r?

Can I use a completely separate slicer and somehow import it to Repetier? would be awesome if someone could port the slicer from makerware into repetier haha

you can use cura and export the gcode, kisslicer can do the same... mattercontrol has its own slicer engine built into it as well

To do that, just save the gcode output from those stand-alone slicers, then in Repetier hit the big 'Load' button. That will allow you to bring in the gcode from alternative stand-alone slicing programs.

Will that not mess up the coordinates and whatnot?

I guess each 3rd party slicer would have to allow for coordinate adjustment.
