Extruder Problems

Post by tamcofarms »

I am trying to print the all mighty Big_Nippled_Parametric_Gyro_Cube with T-Glase (Orion Blue) and have had problems with easyxtruder. After about 2.5 hours into the print the material bunches up into the extruder and of course that is when things get noisy which is my 'oh crap' alarm. It doesn't appear to start happening until there is a lot of retraction going with the infill.
Taking a cue from JohnStack in my last cry for help I tried different temperatures 212, 215, 220. Feed rate is 22 mm/s all through. No difference in behavior with any temp.
I did notice that the stepper motor is pretty warm, could this be causing the filament to soften?
Saturday I was able to print a full size version of the cube using ABS which took 12 1/2 hours and once I adjust the nipples a little bit with a razor blade will be totally awesome. I have printed quite a few things using PLA, ABS and the translucent red T-Glase, but unfortunately getting through printing a blue cube for my wife (her favorite color and she bought 4 spools of different filament so she could have an excuse to by me the blue so I must oblige - win, win for me :D ) is proving to send me off the deep end.
Any help is appreciated!
