Added Reset Button

I have never liked the RESET on the base of the RMV2. You have to push it in too far and the plastic tab will likely stick in the opening. Not thought out as well as it could be.

Seeing this as an opportunity, I decided to "fix" it. I printed a RESET Button cap that I found on Thingiverse and fitted it to the front acrylic front panel. To correct the over travel, I attached a cork pad cut from a wine cork to depress the small button on the LCD Panel.

So far it is working okay and makes it much easier to push the RESET. The amount of travel on the RESET Button can be adjusted by sanding the height of the cork pad.

Hope this helps but your mileage may vary.

I would make it smaller in order to avoid depressing it while reaching for the knob...

I had trimmed the plastic tab with a dremel.

Interesting - you make me realise that this is the first bit of automated machinery I've used which doesn't have that dirty big STOP mushroom panic button somewhere easy to reach.

My knob is too big (hurr hurr) and overlaps the reset button's hole so I do tend to rely on power switch or computer's cancel button instead. If I see a mushroom button in my travels I may have to wire it in. Perhaps on the side support over the Y stepper.

What does that switch actually do? Does it turn off the heaters and home the machine, reboot the thing, what?

Mine has never worked. You can hear it clicking the switch, but it's never had an effect on a print even if i click it repeatedly or press and hold it.

in the current firmware, it disables the heaters, homes the machine, and resets the electronics... and yes, it is kind of a hard button to press with the acrylic, even if it sounds like it clicks, sometimes you gotta really press on it to get the full button to actually click...

You need to get a small round rubber foot and adhere it to the backside of the acrylic where the switch is, works great!

That's what the cork pad does. Nice thing about the cork is that you can adjust the height by sanding to suit your feel when pressing the switch.
