Howdy. In the process of wiring up my new Rev6 Heated Bed and because I jumped ahead in the manual while I was waiting for the Rev6 to arrive, didn't leave enough 18ga wire free so that I could wire up the Heated Bed (it's pretty much all in my towers...)

Is there anything I have to know when sourcing some spare wire? Amps and such? Am not an electrician haha.

I've run the heated bed power in some spare 16ga wire that I think is rated for 240V, 10amps and while it is thicker overall, the strands of copper are thinner, and I think the bed is 12 amps?

I've also run the heated bed LED wires in the 22ga stuff of which I did have extra.


Am I going to melt my wires when I power the thing on?

16 ga for the bed is fine. I have 12 gauge run to my bed,,,, I had to trim a couple of strands for it to fit in the connector.

The wires that go to the moving platform should be multi strand, not solid core, since the latter tends to fatigues and break when repeatedly flexed.
16Ga should be enough for the bed, but if your worried run 2 sets of wires to the bed.
