Building a Rostock V2.. couple of questions :)

Post by craftymethod »

hey guys... Building my first Rostock...

Im wondering am I going to need that orange paste stuff at all if I dont use the standard hot end? (will be using the E3D V6)

and

The axles on the rollers, The guide says they need to be freely moving without bends and defects etc but then it tells you to make sure they are fully seated and pinned down with those two screws.

Must they be able to spin freely after being pinned down? I guess they would be able to fall out sideways?

If anyone knows a good album somewhere for me to check against things it would be a great help too!

Sure I'll have more questions soon :)

if you are using the e3d, you shouldnt need the RTV... as far as the axles, the axles themselves wont spin when you lock them down with the screws, the u-joints should spin freely ON the axles... but no, the axle will not move

Im wondering if the "PermaTex Ultra Copper High Temp RTV" paste isnt used in the E3D, is it still needed behind the Onyx plate?

An auto part store will be your best bet. Basically, I think what is needed is a high temp silicone with copper in it. The brand can vary. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If SeeMeCNC is worried about a base price for the printer, they should atleast sell a support kit that has tools, tape, and other supplies to people that outside the States. Heck offer to the people in the states and see how many people buy it. Treat this thing like a car. You have your base model, then add on upgrades and trunk kits.
