More Print Help

I have been printing like crazy since I got the printer up and have fixed a whole bunch of problems but I have a new round of questions for you printing veterans.
There is something going on that leaves these indents on the sides of my prints. Here you can see there is a lot of layer seperation. Is this do to temperature differences and if so is there a good way to fix it, or do I need to build and enclosure?
I tried to print a sprinkler from the following thingiverse file:
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:414552
It prints ok, although it has a hard time doing the threads. The big problem is that the print seems to be stretched vertically. The width is about right but there seems to be extra layers being added. I printed it three times, once using slic3r with a .15mm layer height, then using cura with a .2mm layer height, and finally again with slic3r using a .2mm layer height. All resulted in the same behavior. Please let me know if you have any idea why this would be happening. Thanks for the help!
