The Bluest Skys You've Ever Seen Are In Seattle...

...Or so the song goes!

Here in the Northwest most of the innovation seems aimed at software (Microsoft etc..) but a few of us focus instead on inventing consumer products. But let's face, it - using outside venders to make out prototypes is expensive! So I have decided to cut out the middle man and join the rest of you who decided to do it yourself.

At this moment, the V2 kit is laid out on my kitchen table and I'm plugging away through the manual, assembling it piece by piece and trying to ignore my daughter's question, "What happens if you finish putting it together and it doesn't work?" (...takes after her mother!)

I'm excited about the project as it will really compliment my invention pursuits. I'm an inventor, Invention Coach, Licensing Agent, Seminar Speaker, and ASTV (As Seen On TV) Product Scout. My company is called "The Cenacle Project" and can be found on TheCenacleProject.com.

But most of that will be hold over the next few weeks as the focus will be on building and learning about my 3D Printer. At 59, I've a number of careers behind me, beginning as a High School Metal Shop teacher, and including a few years as an NC Programmer at Boeing - so I'm confident I should be able to handle the project. (OK, my fingers were crossed when I said that, but only a little!)

I use TurboCad, (older version), and hope to take my concepts and turn them into prototypes that catch the interests of potential licensees. I love how this 3D printer should give me so much more control over the invention process (without breaking the bank).

Looking forward to picking your brains - and if I can, in turn, help provide a few answers about getting an idea from napkin to the market shelf - let me know, that's what I do!

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you bring a great amount of experience to the group, and I look forward to being a part of some of the conversations that you'll help us on.

Most assembly questions have been asked and are already covered in the manual, which is excellent by the way, but please don't be hesitant to ask questions. This is a great community and you'll give and receive lots of help here.

Being an inventor, what's your personal stance on the open source movement? Just curious.
