I made abs silly putty!

Well I have been having a terrible time lately with Shaxon brand abs. It prints fine on some prints but 90% of the time the print fails. I decided to make abs juice to help with the warping problems, so I took 3 feet of 1.75mm abs and put it in 4oz of acetone. Long story short, after a while there was a clump that formed at the bottom of the bottle that would not dissolve. I decided to take it out and it seems that the clump is an additive in the abs to save money during production. Could this be my problem with my bad prints? Does anyone know what the material is that I found? Here is a video of the magic "silly putty" material:

I would definitely say that there is something wrong with that 'ABS' if there is THAT much stuff in there from only 3 feet after being soaked in acetone. Regular ABS should dissolve completely.

I had the same with some cheap ABS from ebay. Not possible to dissolve in acetone, bad layer adhesition, Need more than 245°C to print.
Don´t know which material they used, but it´s not ABS.

I had somewhat the same thing. My very first roll of ABS; thought I was doing something wrong. Wouldn't dissolve at all in Acetone. Some funky material that wouldn't stick the bed no matter what I did. Got myself a custom material for a print surface and now it sticks. Don't know what the hell the material actually is, but prints look neat. They come out matte black and look smooth as hell. I could almost carve it with a fingernail it's so soft though.

It's an old one but still looks cool is splashing Acetone on Polystyrene (Styrofoam). I think this is how they produced the special effect in Alien/Aliens
when the acid blood eats through the floor.

Anyway if you melt enough Polystyrene into acetone you end up with something similar in the bottom of the container, incidentally the resultant makes a great sealant/plastic glue. I made some and used it in a lab one day to seal a leaking joint on a plastic reaction vessel, just left it drying over the weekend.

The resultan acetone mixture or the resultant residue at the bottom of the container?

I've got some cheap filament I'll have to soak to see what comes out. Supposed to be ABS, but doesn't like the high temps, and it's shiny like PLA, but doesn't smell like PLA when I'm using it. It's a second order of filament from an EBay seller. First order was great., this one, not so much.
