Max v2 or Orion

Post by Kunguru »

So, one of these will be my first 3d printer. I'm tempted to go with the Max v2, so I can learn more about 3d printing process, and have the fun building it.

However, I have no experience in soldering, at all. I've built a number of desktops from scratch. Would you say, other than soldering, that it is similar? Or would I be better just going with the Orion?

There's not much soldering involved, and honestly it's a pretty decent way to get started. The heated bed is a rather big forgiving part that's nowhere near the small intricate soldering that takes skill and experience.

Value and build volume vs ready to use and portable.
That's ultimately how I'd stack them up. The design is functionally the same, just a size difference and whether or not you want to build it yourself. I'd always vote for building it myself, personally.

Good luck!
