Show us your workspace!

We all love seeing a good machine, but often the space we work in isn't focused on... anybody have any set ups they're particularly proud of? I'm in the middle of setting mine up, so I'll show off my printing space when it's finished...

In the meantime, show off your 3d printing battle station!

That's my workspace! This battle station is always manned!

Your post inspired my post! haha. Very very nice set up.

By always manned, do you mean by the robot or do you have a night-shift production line going? :P

Why thank you!

By manned I mean that I'm priming almost 24/7 and I for some reason always find myself in there! Not that I can do much more than clean up little bits of plastic or watch the printer!

Not sure if I should even put this up here... it's pretty bad. Not pretty, but it works. I wish I had a professional space like some of the others on the site. Hard to work with an 8ft x 10ft room crammed full of... everything.

Edit: Whoop... neglected to see the part of the original post that said 'proud of'. We'll just call set-ups like mine "Where you shoved your printer, and all associated tools".

Hahah no worries! You should be proud of it because you made it work! All submissions are welcomed.

My space is VERY cramped too. Actually I just measured, It's essentially 4ft x 11 ft....

Hah! And it houses a lot. Here is a sneak peak of the setup so far:

This is back in Dec, 2011.

It's a bit more organized now, but it's still to bloody small. :(

It might be. It's 1920 square feet. :D

I could use double that - I like to spread out. :D

1920 square feet? Now that is large but knowing how many printers you have and how much building and dis-assembly that you do I can see how you can outgrow it.

The printers don't take up much space. It's the flight simulator projects I work on that eat it all up. I've got a cockpit sitting outside right now, waiting for some repair work to be done by my neighbor (he scratch builds hotrods for a living) so I can start my work on it.

It's a Bell Jet Ranger helicopter that a friend of mine bought. It got dunked in the Gulf of Mexico in 1984 and has been kicking around various hangars ever since. The "A" pillar on the right side was torn out when it rolled over, so that has to be replaced. It's also going to be cut WAY down and the material will be used to make the repairs. The whole thing weighs MAYBE 100lbs.

What is your final intent?
Turning into what?
That is a great looking shell to start with, I was just curious what the plans are for her.

I'll be a helicopter simulator. I'll likely use it with the castAR I have coming.

Sweet! I knew those were flight sim projects I saw! hahaa. I'm so jealous. I would LOVE to make a rotary sim cockpit.

By the way, though, gene, I believe that is not a Jetranger, but a Longranger. (206 L vs 206 B, though I'm usually wrong :P) [Edit: confirmed I'm wrong hahaha. It's definitely a Jetranger. Oops]

HEhe. No problem. I pulled the NTSB report using the N number. The engine snarfed a blade and they auto-rotated into the GoM. One of the pontoons failed and it rolled over after landing. Once you dunk one in salt water, it's all over but the cryin'. Nobody was hurt fortunately.

I went looking for doors once on eBay. Those people are insane. I found a plastic door *skin* (just a cosmetic bit) and they wanted $450 EACH for them. I suspect someone told them they were made from ground unicorn horn bound together with a resin made from the tears of a virgin politician. :D

Heh yup, the parts are expensive. My job for 5 years was supplying 206 and other aircraft with parts. Most parts, including doors, have a point where the part is considered "B.E.R." (Beyond Economical Repair) and they often donate these parts to aviation and engineering schools or people such as yourself. I'd call around to any local heli operators and ask if they have any parts that they are going to scrap. The door will have cracks all over the mounting points likely, but I'm sure you could work around that.
