So yeah...I have been happily printing quite a bit lately. I had left the room to grab something and I came back and smelled the happy smell of burning electronics. Opened up the door to the electronics bay and found the positive on the heated bed melting away. Everything else was running fine, including the bed temperature right around 100C. Presumably the board is mostly okay. Is there anything I should be looking for elsewhere in the heated bed system that could have led to this sort of over draw of current that would lead to this? I figure I could just replace the terminal block, as nothing else really looks damaged, but I want to make sure this doesn't happen again.

It's a relatively frequent occurrence.
If the connection with the lead powering the bed is poor at the connector, it will cause this to happen.
Basically the connection becomes a significant part of the overall resistance of the circuit and you end up dissipating several Watts of power at the connector.
It's one of the issues of using thicker gauge wire there, it's unfortunately easy to not get a good connection.

Would you mind cropping your pictures and maybe resizing them?

All i can see is the side of your cutting board.

I had the same problem and switched to stranded 12 gauge copper wire from an auto parts store.

If you can replace the terminal block then I would cut back the offending wire about 1/2" then strip off the insulation again. This is so you are cutting
off the short piece of oxidized wire that was in the terminal block. When you go to twist the wire in preparation to go back into the terminal block It would
be best to use lineman's pliers and get a really tight twist on the wire before inserting into the block and really snug down the wires at the block, tight but
do not strip the threads on the block.

Thanks guys, glad to know it's not just me and just the connection itself. Definitely going to switch to a higher gauge wire. Has anyone had success replacing that terminal block themselves?

Your other alternative is to ship it back to Ultimachine.com and let them give you a cost for fixing it for you.

That's because you're not using the appropriate device for the venue in question.

Stop asking people to crop/resize images. It's annoying.

I'm just going to ship it back to them and have them check it. I'd feel safer knowing it's been tested to make sure it was the connection being bad and not something in the board itself. I've already contacted them.

My screen is 1080p and I can't see the photos properly either. Your response was somewhat rude.

People should be providing a link to photos rather than including them directly, anyways, so that opening this forum on a slow/mobile connection doesn't require loading all of the huge images. Linking images directly is frowned upon in other forums.

Using a "mobile" device (aka a "phone") to browse a website is like using a flat bladed screwdriver as a chisel. It'll work, but don't act all surprised when the results look like crap.

This is news to me and I've been around since "forums" were all text based and used a terminal program to reach them.

I get tired of people pushing their mis-application of technology like it's mainstream and all us luddites need to get with the program.

I get tired of the "crusty old folks" using their age, personal experiences, and opinions as reasons to be rude. I appreciate your hard work on the rostock manual, it is awesome, but you're being a dick.

I don't think he is being a dick at all.
There are a handful of people have problems viewing the images and people from that group are trying to dictate how the pictures are posted.
I do not have any problems viewing any of the images because my video card and monitor can display the needed resolutions.
What's next from the mobile / phone group - different fonts so they would look better? Perhaps certain colors so they look cool?
I also have the phone that connects to the internet but I have never tried to access this or other forums, I wait until I am home and can use my
pc with its 1920X1080 resolution.

Respectfully, the gentleman/lady in question simply requested the re-sizing. I never saw anyone try to "dictate" anything.

Additionally, I am on 1080p and am not able to see these photos properly since the forum software places them in a cell causing them to be cut-off for me.

Edit: If you go into the "User Control Panel", "Board Preferences" tab, then "Edit display options" subtab, you can set images to not display when linked in a post. Then, by clicking the link that will show for each image titled "[img]", you open the image in a new window/tab and can view it on desktop or mobile in all it's image-y glory! The problem is officially solved now, so no one should have to complain

This is so off topic, but I thought I would respond anyway because I have some thoughts.

The different "themes" of PHPbb handle the images differently. (You can choose a different in board preferences in your user panel)

I do think that inline images are better. I like being able to quickly browse through a thread and see the pictures. It helps to orient myself to the discussion, when I've already read the thread and I'm scanning back for info or context.

Large resolution images should NOT be discouraged. I hate low quality images. I want to be able to zoom in and see what type of screw is holding something. If you are having problems viewing images, I suggest you view the image in a new tab. On mobile chrome in iOs, you can tap and hold on the image to bring a menu up and select "open image in new tab."

And also, we should increase the number of posts displayed per page, or allow the users to select this (by modifying phpbb). Something in the realm of 50 per page is my preference, but 20-30 is common.
