I know I can get some/all of the files required on the SeeMeCNC github, but I was wondering if there is an easy way to get a CAD assembly of the whole RMv2 so I can make modifications and build additions onto it? One thing I want to do is design a dual extruder cold-end mount with dual spool holders for on the top of the machine so that the steppers are outside of the build volume so I can make a heated enclosure without worrying about them overheating. I'd also like to do some modifications to the effector to mount a couple of e3d hotends on there and some fans and LEDs and maybe even a z-axis probe. It would be so much easier to have an assembly of the whole machine, but if there isn't one I guess I'd just have to piece it together!

That would be dandy for designing an enclosure (for strictly personal, non-commercial-heated-chamber purposes).

I thought I read somewhere that Stratasys's patent around a heated build chamber only specifically claimed it on Cartesian robots, leaving us delta / SCARA type folks free to heat to our hearts' content.

Patents only protect the commercialization of ideas. Anyone is free to personally construct anything they like. I could build myself a Boeing 737 to exact specifications (if I could get them) and they couldn't do a damn thing about it (except cause so much legal trouble for me that it would no longer be worth it to try).

I too am very interested in this! I would assume they exist within SeeMeCNC. Especially since I believe a model of the Orion is one of the rotating images on the SOLIDWORKS 2015 Splash Screen!

I have quite a bit of the RMax v2 3D modeled from the github files. I hired a designer back in April and he had no Autodesk Inventor experience. He was coming from SolidWorks. The first task I gave him to get oriented with Inventor was to convert the github files to 3D files and then assemble them. He didn't quite get it finished and I haven't really checked it for accuracy but the basic envelope is there. I can step the thing out and post it for you if you would like. The Inventor files are in 2015 format.

For sure! I haven't even started to try doing it yet and there seem to be parts missing from the RMv2 github? Anyways, the most important part is the frame overall and some of the moving parts to be able to test out new parts. The wiring, belts, etc. are not necessary.

Good looking model. Didn't get into the details of the model yet, but it looks very nice. This will definitely allow me to design some custom components for the printer. Thanks for the upload again!

Makes me happy to know that the cheapskates can be assembled backwards in CAD also. Very Nice.

Bone, What are you going to be working on?

I, at some point soon, will be using this to make an enclosure. Probably a few other items as well. But that will probably be first.

New close out panels that will act as the structure of the enclosement also. Looking to put some styling into it, make it me own. Hopefully done by the new year. That would be sweet.

The organization on this project is kinda poor, none of the parts seem to be named correctly and the carriage/arm assembly is a bit wonky (from my view). I'm going to rename everything according to Gene's manual and do a complete new assembly. Any parts that I find missing I will figure out where they are/make them myself. Also I'm changing it to white because it looks cooler

When I finish I'll post a link to STEP and IAM/IPA files.

I guess you opened it in Inventor? That be awesome if you cleaned up and verified the native files. I'm sure a few of us would be willing to help if you wanted to used STEP files for things like stepper motors and builds. I could model some stuff in Soildworks and send you a STEP file of that item. Might save some time on some things that don't need a lot of detail and just overall dimensions.

I agree. Real part numbers, properly model parts and proper assembly constraints would go a long way here. It could be useful for a lot of us. It would be nice to share this when finished. Perhaps it could be thrown up on github or something.

Perhaps supply a STEP file of just the wood and mechanical parts first. That way people can out fit with their own electronics and other hardware as needed. It save the time of stripping stuff out if that's what someone wanted to do. There are probably files for NEMA 17 motors and RAMBo boards out there some already also. Just need some people to find them and share them.

A universal shared location be good. I like that idea.

Check on grabcad first. There's usually a host of things available there.

If someone could find some good NEMA 17s, an ATX PSU, and a model for the RAMBo and controller that would be awesome. There are some geometry errors in a few models, and several assbly attire that I will fix (or at least try). I've gotten a few parts renamed so far and I got off class early today so I have more time to work.

I dont use GrabCAD any more. Went to there HQ in Somerville a year ago. Nice guys, but they still sold out.

Awesome. I have all of the parts the other guy made renamed and put into folders. I gotta find/make fasteners and a few other parts before I make another assembly. I can get most of the fastener models from McMaster. Are there 2 main revisions of the V2 MAX currently? I can make 2 folders with assemblies for the 2 versions.

I love you guys. Is it difficult to go from Inventor to Solidworks?
