The state of Autocalibration

Post by Nylocke »

I've been trying to find more info on this topic. I know 626Pilot has done some great work with probe offsets and the calibration routine. I heard from the topic in the V1 forums that .92 has a supposedly working routine, but I havent seen any confirmation of that. I read taht 626 and Mhackney (I think) tried out the .91 code and it didnt work. I'm not really sure where to look for more info on this, I'm not sure what information is current. I'm interested in attaching a probe to my machine, designing a servo controlled probe that attaches to the Kraken or something, but I dont want my work to go to waste if nothing even gets made of the autocalibration prospect. Any information would be greatly appreciated by myself and anyone else who is clueless but curious.

I have also been gathering info but need time/clarity of mind to tackle the problem. A guide would make things easier.
When on mobile I am brief and may be perceived as an arsl.

Do you want the easy way?

Ok.

Sell your Ramboboard on Ebay and get a Azteeg X5 mini or Smoothieboard.

Considering I have a Kraken and an X3 Pro, its not quite that simple :P

Absolutly right.

But...

Have you ever used your Kraken fully equipped with 4 Extruders? Let´s make a guess: no. :-)

You are using only 2 of the 4, right? :-)

Ok, now the easy way is:

Wait for the E3D Cyclops and get a Smoothieboard.

And you will find the most easiest way to calibrate your Delta for dual extrusion.

:-)

What I wanna say is: quit with repetier firmware and change to Smoothie....

The reasoning is because I don't have money (high school student to) so I couldn't Quad extrude if I wanted. You might say "you can't pay $30 for 2 steppers, but you can pay roughly 500 for the kraken and X3 Pro?". Yes, I cant, I had money then, I don't know. This is the way of things :P

ok, you beat me. For now.

But you ask for "the state of Autocalibration" ;-)

Many, many years ago I was in the same situation (Think that was before you are born and the first PC´s come available. 3D Printing? What´s that?). Student, no money etc.
But trust me. When you ask for easy autocalibration, smoothieware is way to go.

Sell your Rambo on ebay: 100 bucks
Sell your Kraken with colling equipment on ebay: 200 bucks

Buy a Smoothiebord: 180 bucks
Buy a Cyclpos: who knows (but guessing not more than 100)

You will have enough money left to buy some beer you need for the replacement of the old stuff

PS: buy the way.... there is no need for Software that eliminates Build errors when the hardware is perfectly built. That´s only the two cents of an old fashion Engineer ;-)
Sorry for my poor englich. I´m germ ;-)

I've got a pretty decent build, parts come out nice, just issues with the effect or moving parallel to the bed. I neglected to make sure the towers were parallel to the bed (Ive built 2 of these (so I didnt read the manual this time around) and some things escape my mind), when I finish this order I'm working on Ill do that, but really my build is pretty solid. Parts are dimensionally accurate, layers line up, etc. This is more of a time saver so I dont have to manually adjust every variable (No machine is created perfectly or the same as another).
